Before you make final decision concerning choice of your web design WordPress theme, make careful research concerning the web theme’s or web template’s options. I mean, advertised WordPress Themes are like goods in exhibition window – they are prepared to look nice. And they CAN look nice. However many times the provided examples are based on WordPress Theme and advanced photo/video content additionally supported with serious CSS programming. So, don’t assume that just out of the box and after the theme activation you will get exactly of almost the same website look.
What is exceptionally important is to check which layout features you can change with WordPress Theme layout panel – that is in safe way, just by using mouse and clicking here and there. Wed designers promise you many things, but sometimes you can be disappointed after WordPress Theme is bought and you have access to layout panel. It can happen for instance, that some simple feature you would like to get out can be changed only by editing a CSS file.
Another important point: don’t be excited too much about WordPress theme SEO features. Anyway, themes are about layout and navigation as such, for Searching Engine Optimization we have really excellent (and usually free, or very very cheap) SEO plugins. It can happen that your WordPress Theme SEO features can not be extended with SEO plugins due to some functions conflicts. And sometimes as a “bonus” – theme SEO features can not be turned off at all.
An example of basic WordPress theme is a WordPress theme framework. It is just basic set of additional functionality on top of core WordPress files. Except really basic layout and sometimes advanced possibilities, layout as such doesn’t exist there. You would need to pay for skins, to “cover” basic layout provided by a framework.
Other important issue which you can face after WordPress theme is bought, is lack of compatibility with important plugins, lets say extensions of basic blogging functionality: like bbPress or much more advanced social network BuddyPress. So, check first – ask theme developers – if their theme is compatible with plugins which are important for you.
